Governance, Human Rights & Justice

Good governance, human rights protection, and inclusive civic participation are essential for building a just, peaceful, and accountable society. In Bangladesh, many communities—particularly marginalized groups, women, youth, and persons with disabilities—continue to face barriers in accessing justice, participating in decision-making processes, and exercising their democratic rights. Issues such as legal exclusion, weak accountability mechanisms, and limited civic awareness further deepen inequality and reduce trust in institutions.

Impact Initiative (IMI) works to strengthen governance systems, promote human rights, and expand civic engagement through community-driven, rights-based, and inclusive approaches. Our interventions focus on empowering citizens, improving access to justice, strengthening democratic processes, and fostering accountable institutions at both local and national levels.

In the Next Five Years (2026–2030), Impact Initiative (IMI) Will Focus On:

  • Strengthening access to justice for vulnerable and marginalized communities through legal aid and rights-based support.
  • Expanding human rights awareness, documentation, and advocacy for policy and institutional reforms.
  • Promoting civic engagement and participatory governance at local and community levels.
  • Strengthening capacity of CSOs and CBOs for accountability, transparency, and inclusive development.
  • Enhancing election observation and monitoring for national and local government elections.
  • Promoting voter education, civic enrollment, and democratic awareness among youth, women, and marginalized groups.
  • Strengthening peaceful electoral processes and reducing risks of electoral violence.
  • Fostering collaboration between communities, civil society, and governance institutions to build trust and accountability.
