Climate Change, Environment & Resilience
Bangladesh is one of the most climate-vulnerable countries in the world, facing increasing risks from floods, cyclones, river erosion, sea-level rise, salinity intrusion, and environmental degradation. These challenges disproportionately affect marginalized communities, threatening livelihoods, food security, health, and overall well-being.
Impact Initiatives (IMI) is committed to promoting climate resilience, environmental sustainability, and climate justice through inclusive and community-driven approaches. Our interventions focus on strengthening adaptive capacities, reducing environmental risks, and enabling communities to respond effectively to climate shocks while protecting natural ecosystems.
IMI also promotes low-carbon development pathways by encouraging eco-friendly practices, renewable energy solutions, and sustainable resource management. Through awareness, innovation, partnerships, and the application of nature-based solutions, IMI supports communities to build resilience and transition towards greener and more sustainable livelihoods.
In the Next Five Years (2026–2030), Impact Initiative (IMI) Will Focus On:
- Promoting climate-resilient livelihoods and community-based adaptation strategies.
- Strengthening disaster risk reduction (DRR) and preparedness in climate-vulnerable areas.
- Supporting access to climate finance for vulnerable communities and local institutions.
- Promoting renewable energy, eco-friendly solutions, and reduction of carbon footprints.
- Implementing climate-smart agriculture and sustainable natural resource management practices.
- Expanding reforestation, afforestation, and ecosystem restoration initiatives.
- Scaling up nature-based solutions (NbS), including mangrove restoration, wetland protection, and ecosystem-based adaptation approaches.
- Raising awareness and building community capacity on climate change, environmental protection, and resilience.
- Promoting youth-led environmental campaigns and green innovation initiatives.
- Integrating climate considerations across all IMI programs (education, health, WASH, and livelihoods).
- Strengthening partnerships with government, private sector, and development actors to support national and global climate goals.
